Anthony Newman has made a large contribution to flute repertory. There literally is something for every flutist. This CD includes some of his earlier works: the virtuosic Introduction and Toccata for flute and piano and the flute quartet Variation and Fugue on a Mighty Fortress that was commissioned by Flute Force for their Carnegie Recital Hall debut in 1985. This is a fabulous piece for flute quartet, and it includes his delightful canon for four piccolos! Another must for flute ensemble enthusiasts.
